Biography:

ETRI Director Hoon Jung received his Ph.D. from the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Missouri in 2001. He joined Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute(ETRI) in 2002 and conducted logistics informatization/automation research. Since 2016, he has developed delivery drone system including safety control technology to enable 100% reliability for safe drone delivery. Recently, he is developing non-face-to-face last mile door-to-door delivery technology that links drones and robots with Korean government.

Current Status of Drone Delivery and Drone Business Direction of Korean Government

     The invitation session’s topic covers current drone delivery technology/service and future drone business plan of Korean government. In this presentation, the background and examples of drone delivery services will be briefly introduced, and the limitations and solutions of drone delivery will be described based on drone development experiences. The session will also describe the drone/robot delivery R&D tasks in development from 2019 and in addition to the future drone business plan of Korean government with implementation purpose, plan, collaboration system and schedule.
